Formation FAQ

The questions founders ask us most about forming a UK company.

How long does it take to form a company?

Once your details are confirmed and identities are verified, Companies House usually incorporates a company within 24 working hours, and often the same day.

What are SIC codes?

SIC codes describe what your business does. You can have more than one. Thucy suggests the right codes from a plain-English description of your business.

How much does it cost?

You pay the Companies House filing fee plus Thucy's service fee. The total is shown before you pay, with no hidden charges. Prices are in pounds and exclude VAT unless stated.

What is a registered office?

It is the official address of your company, shown on the public register, where government and legal post is sent. It must be a real address in the UK where post can be delivered.

How many shares should I issue?

Most new companies start with a small number of ordinary shares, often 100 at £1 each. Thucy sets up a sensible default and explains it, and you can change the split for co-founders.

Do I need to verify my identity?

Yes. Directors and people with significant control must verify their identity. See our ID verification guide for how it works.

Can Thucy handle my taxes after formation?

Thucy helps you register for Corporation Tax and keeps you on top of VAT, annual accounts, and confirmation statements. It gives information, not regulated tax advice.

Is Thucy a law firm?

No. Thucy provides legal information and files your documents, but it is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. For advice specific to your situation, speak to a qualified professional.
