ID requirements
Last updated 2 August 2026
This page explains why and how we verify identity as part of forming your company. It should be read alongside our Terms and Conditions and Regulatory Information.
Why do I need to verify my ID and address?
We are legally required to comply with the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017, the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023, and Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements. These laws require us to confirm the identity and residential address of relevant customers, company directors, and people with significant control (PSCs) involved in the formation.
How do I provide my documents?
After your order is processed, each person required to verify will receive a secure link. They click the link, upload a valid photo ID (such as a passport), and complete a liveness selfie check through our verification partner. The process usually takes a few minutes. We will attempt to confirm each person's address electronically; if that is unsuccessful, we will ask for a utility bill, bank statement, or similar document dated within the last three months that shows the person's name and current address.
Who needs to complete verification?
We will tell you exactly who needs to verify. Most commonly this includes:
- the person placing the order;
- all appointed company directors; and
- people with significant control, usually anyone holding more than 25% of the shares or voting rights.
We may also request documents from other individuals depending on the structure of your business.
Is my information secure?
Yes. Identity checks are carried out through a trusted third-party verification provider that operates to recognised security standards. How we handle and protect your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy. If we are unable to verify your identity, or you do not provide the documents we request, we may be unable to complete your formation and may cancel the Services in line with our Terms.
